Spring Cleaning Survival Guide

Spring Cleaning Survival Guide

The change from winter to spring is truly euphoric. As places begin to open, we are going to appreciate spring now more than ever.

There is something zen about spring cleaning; it is like a rejuvenation, a fresh start. After being hidden away for months, it’s time to wipe away tough dirt, grease, and grime from our home. From ovens to outdoor carpeting, it is time to refresh the home to start inviting family over. Spring cleaning is the chance to really deep-clean your surfaces, and there is NOTHING better than GP66 to deep clean.

Spring cleaning sounds simple, and it is with GP66, but it takes a methodological and systematic approach.

GP66 is the best cleaning solution for cleaning in the home for the following reasons: it is designed for high performance, it eliminates the need for specialized products (saving you time and money), it does not contain any bleach or ammonia, and you can dilute it down to make 64 bottles of cleaner commonly found off the shelf!

Another thing to consider when it comes to spring cleaning is being able to concentrate without getting discouraged. So before we begin cleaning, you may want to have a few more cups of coffee and throw on a quality soundtrack.

1. Declutter Your Home

We recommend evaluating what articles of clothing you need to donate and organize. By adopting a minimalistic mindset, you will begin to progress on what you need and don't need. Even with GP66, we recommend customers to dilute our product to make multiple bottles. GP66 is a powerful and concentrated solution. One of the reasons GP66 was invented was to eliminate the need for multiple cleaning sprays, saving you time and money. You will get better results than bleach, and GP66 cleans just about everything from food surfaces to pet mess.

When it comes to decluttering, there are two extremes, hoarding, and severe minimalism.  Some joke about hoarding, but in fact,

Between five million and 14 million people in the U.S. are compulsive hoarders—at least twice the number of people diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) (scientificamerican, 2013)

By organizing and decluttering, anxiety decreases.  There is a lot of research out there supporting a positive correlation between home organization and anxiety levels.

A full 70% of Americans say tidying their home offers them a feeling of accomplishment, 61% say it makes them feel "de-stressed," and 54% say they experience "relaxation," (offerup survey)

Going through our possessions and decluttering them will help us get the house into order, and we won’t have as much to clean in spring cleaning. Here are some areas to tackle:

    • Clothing
    • Bathroom Products
    • Book Shelves
    • Storage Containers
    • Storage Spaces
    • Office Spaces
    • Closets
    • Pantries

2. Clean Linens, Cloth, Towels, And Clothing With GP66

As long as the surface is not painted or varnished, you can use GP66 full strength for best results.

Tablecloths and placemats collect a lot of unseen grease and grime. Gather them and put them in a pile, along with, pillow covers, sheets, blankets, shower curtains, window curtains, towels, clothing, rugs, bathmats, and whatever else you can think of.

You will be able to pre-treat and wash most of these items. You will use GP66 to clean these items. Remember GP66 has chemical properties of laundry detergent, which is why many mechanics and construction workers use it to remove oil stains from their uniforms. Please see the following directions when using GP66 in your washing machine:

1.) Spray your item full strength and let it sit for 10 minutes

2.) Place item in your washing machine

3.) Add two ounces of GP66 to your washer machine.  You can either use GP66, or use GP66 with your favorite laundry detergent. GP66 does not contain a fragrance, so if you want to add a fragrance you will need traditional detergent.

To clean clothing, use two ounces of GP66 to a load of laundry.

It is also a great time to gather objects and trinkets around the house. As long as objects are not painted, you can soak them in GP66 to remove grime.  For example a hairbrush, or tools in the garage. You can also spray and wipe down small trash bins.

Now would be a good time to remove everything from your fridge and freezer. You don't need to worry about putting items in a separate cooler. GP66 reduces the time it takes to clean a fridge, just spray and wipe. You want to spray GP66 full strength on shelves and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then, use a green scrub pad to remove spills.  We love microfiber cloths, so it would be a good idea to use them as well.

Be sure to throw away everything outside the expiration date.

3. Clean Your Oven and Kitchen Appliances With GP66

Some people like self-cleaning ovens, but research circulating around that the self-cleaning feature can do more harm than good.  Whenever a customer asks us, can I use GP66 after the self-cleaning feature, we always say just use GP66. There really isn't a need to use the self-cleaning feature. Also be wary of bloggers trying to sell their homemade cleaning solution.  To manufacture any cleaning solution to be used around food surfaces requires proper NSF approval. Since 1966, GP66 is proven, tested, and made in America.

When cleaning your oven, you want to make sure you are following GP66 instructions:

1.) Spray GP66 full strength and let it sit on the surface for 15 minutes

2.) Scrub using a HEAVY DUTY green scrub pad

3.) Wipe away with a microfiber cloth

GP66 cleans the inside of your oven, on top of the stove, oven doors, etc.

You should also clean your other kitchen appliances: take apart the toaster, blender, food processor, microwave, and others, and clean everything. Always make sure that the appliances are unplugged before you get started.

We receive many requests asking if you can use GP66 on the inside of your air fryer. The answer is absolutely! Be sure to use GP66 on all of your kitchen appliances, including frying machines, blenders, and crockpots.

GP66 fans use GP66 to remove carbon buildup on the back of their pan. To clean and restore cookware, you want to spray full strength on the back of the pan and let it sit for 15 minutes.  Then, reach for a heavy-duty green scrub pad and apply moderate to hard pressure and scrub back and forth.  If the pan has not been cleaned for years, you may need to reach for a steel scrubber; these things are super heavy duty.

Remember not to forget cleaning the inside of your dishwashing machine. Spray GP66 full strength inside and wipe down with a microfiber rag.

Your dryer may require cleaning. First, empty the lint collector and clean it with a brush and dish soap, if necessary. Spray the inside of the dryer with GP66 and wipe it dry with a microfiber cloth. Don’t forget to wipe the seal and the glass door and remove any and all dust, hair and dirt!

4. Clean Cabinets With GP66

1.) Spray GP66 on cabinets using the mist spray tip setting

2.) Wipe with a microfiber cloth. BOOM. DONE.

5. Clean and Organize Drawers

Several drawers will be stacked with junk. I have found no matter how minimalistic someone is; everyone will have stacked drawers. This is why cleaning drawers has its own step. From tech devices like calculators and old phones to cables, you can use GP66 to clean them, just spray and wipe down.  After everything is removed, spray GP66 inside the drawer and wipe with a microfiber cloth once again.

6. Aim for Outside Items With GP66

All of the following items can be cleaned with GP66:

  • Grills and Smokers
  • Vinyl Siding
  • Outdoor Rugs
  • Patio Furniture
  • Patio Concrete
  • Fences
  • Bicycles
  • Home Gyms

Remember to think about what cleaning tool do I need to use for maximum results.  Here is a quick reference guide:

1.) Grills: Use a heavy-duty green scrub pad and a steel brush for racks

2.) Outdoor Patio Concrete or Other Material: Use a home pressure washer and think about using a garden spray tank applicator

3.) Outdoor Rugs: Use a garden spray tank and apply GP66 full strength. Then wait for 30 minutes before scrubbing with either a long handle brush or home pressure washer.  GP66 removes algae and other green slime.

6. Spot Clean Furniture With GP66

You want to take a detailed look at your furniture to make sure everything is taken care of. Those dirty marks on the sofa are prime GP66 areas. GP66 will even remove tannins (coffee and wine).  Tannin is very difficult to remove. When trying to eliminate a stain, pour GP66 on the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.  Then, come back with a scrub brush, scrub, and rinse with water.  The stain will be gone!

7. Spot Clean Carpets and Rugs

GP66 works great at spot cleaning carpets and rugs. You want to use GP66 full strength and saturate the surface until very wet; wait 10-15 minutes, and scrub.

8. Fully Clean Bathrooms (showers, sinks, bathtubs, grout, etc.)

Wipe down handles and sinks. To clean grout, use a grout scrub brush with GP66 to scrub in between grout surfaces.

9. Clean Floors with GP66

You can use GP66 as a full floor cleaning solution.  You can add it to your Swiffer tank or spray and wipe.

10. Take Your Car to the Car Wash
